A peanut butter & strawberry sandwich is a great alternative instead of a PB&J. You get the protein from the peanut butter but not the unnecessary sugar from the jelly.
This is my favorite "breakfast-on-the-go". I put the peanut butter on a warm whole wheat english muffin and throw a few strawberries on top. It's satisfying and delicious... and nutritious!
