art | Collar Pattern

Sometimes, you wait days for something to inspire you. And then some other times, you're watching Sex and The City with a pencil in your hand, and Miranda Hobbs is wearing some obnoxious collar on her shirt, so you decide to make a pattern out of it.

boots made for walkin'

I have a rule regarding {my Pinterest account} - I only pin what I really, really love. It has to be aesthetically pleasing, unforgettable art, products, or imagery that are truely inspiring.

I found {these boots from Free People} on Pinterest and as you can see, they have inspired me to use them both in my painting and in real life.

art | Sweet Macarons

It was only a matter of time before my favorite thing (french macarons) would infiltrate my favorite activity (painting). I've fallen in love with this painting that I recently completed - the bright colors, the subject matter, the delicate but punchy overall look and feel. This painting would look great in a collage of other vibrant photographs or works of art.

You can purchase it {here}.

art | Pink Giraffe

Pink and green has never been one of my favorite color combos. It's so expected and a tad over done. However, when the daughter of a woman that owns our local Lily Pulitzer shop commissions a piece of art - I knew I had to get over my distaste for the pairing.

And quickly I did. Above is the inspiration board and as you can see - bringing in cooler greens, and brighter pinks makes me much more "me". I hope Mary-Kate loves it as much as I do. And I thank her for opening my eyes to this new palette .

Below is the finished product - A pink giraffe, and the letter "M".

art | Eggs

So I was just finishing the painting of these eggs last night when I spilled water all over it. I looked at it for a minute, and thought to myself, "Maybe... this... could... work?!". Then I came to my senses that I would have to wait for it to dry and redo the piece.

I wanted to share my sketch with you so that you have an idea the direction I was kind of headed. It was (and is going to be) a very graphic modern piece, using the color palette that was in my inspiration post on Tuesday.

What a bummer. But I hope you enjoy!
