inspiration | Matchbook Magazine Tumblr

Whenever I need to find cool, vintage-inspired images, my first stop is always {Matchbook Magazine's Tumblr Page}.

Not only do they have images taken directly from their magazine (which focuses mainly on interior design and fashion), they also have a plethora of magazine scans, and old pictures that seem to inspire what they put in their magazine.

Think "Kate Spade" mixed with "Domino Magazine" - it's a total happy place for me.

style | Going Out

It's a rare occasion nowadays when I pull an outfit together that doesn't have paint on it or isn't from the heap of laundry on my bedroom floor. I've been busy (which is good for business, but bad for my overall appearance).

When I was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago, I had no choice but to class it up a bit. Here are the results

music for every occasion

I listen to a lot of different of music. Most days, my ipod will see a very wide range of styles, genres, and tempos depending on my mood. I grew up listening to records from old Disney movies and classic musicals. Today, while I still love the old stuff, I've been listening to a ton of new stuff. It seems like every day friends and family are giving me CDs to add to my itunes or I'll discover a new radio station that becomes an instant favorite.

This week, I'm getting inspired by music and letting it directly influence my work. Instead of making a playlist to listen to while I paint or clean, I'm collecting all of my favorites - past and present - to see what I can come with and how my musical tastes have changed.

friday favorite | Kate Spade Hedgehog Coin Purse

I make really impulse purchases sometimes.

"YEP! I LOVE IT!"
*slam it on the counter*
*whip out my debit card*
*say "thank you" profusely to whomever is ringing me up*
(speaking to the object of purchase): "LOVE IT!.... I love this!"

And then I walk out of the store, look in my bag and think "WHAT WAS I THINKING?!"

WELL! This was definitely NOT one of those purchases.

Deborah Lloyd (creative director at Kate Spade) created {this coin purse} as an ode to her home country of England, where apparently hedgehogs are as common as black squirrels in Michigan. They are also a sign of good luck!

To me, I see this as something I will pass along to my grandchildren one day. When I'm long gone, they're going to open up a box and think "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!" and will fall in love with it, just as I have.

Meanwhile, I'm still alive - so I will enjoy it this weekend!

Happy Friday, you guys!
